The UP Statistical Society, in line with its theme, Service and Excellence, conducted a Stat Volunteer Clean Up on the afternoon of 28 November, 2008 at the School of Statistics. This implemented activity was suggested by the Office of the Students’ Affairs as one of the plausible civic welfare activities of the organization.
This worthwhile endeavor was led by the Internal Committee and was highly participated by the different committees. Each committee had their respective representatives who volunteered to participate in the said clean up.
The clean up was previously planned to scour the canals and weed out the school lawn. Yet, due to the heavy rains that afternoon, the organization settled to clean Rooms 102-105 and the two Computer Laboratories. With the sufficient workforce, it was quickly finished.
The organization is truly the epitome of a “group for a cause”. It upholds the members of the organization to be valuable to the UP Community. Yet, the dedication to serve the community does not end here. In fact, it has already tied up with UP Gawad Kalinga to do a GK Build next year.
