Filled with enthusiasm, the StatSocers, one-by-one, jumped inside the jeepneys as they include themselves in the UP Statistical Society's SemStarter for the 1st semester, AY 2008-2009, held at 3B Resort Antipolo, Rizal last June 27-28 from 7pm to 7am.
On the way to the resort, members' giggles and laughters filled each of the two jeepneys. Each had their own way of entertaining themselves. After less than an hour trip, members finally arrived at the resort and upon entrance all eyes were impressed by the full view of the city by night; dazzling lights dancing in the dark.

The ExeBOD gave first the members couple of minutes to take a rest, to fix their things and to prepare (physically, mentally, and emotionally) for an exhausting yet fun-filled night. While waiting, one could find some of the members taking rest on beds,

some chatting beside the pool,

some preparing the dinner and the highly noticeable 'some' who were breaking the silence and calmness of the night, holding the microphone and singing out loud their heartfelt songs through the videoke machine.

The program officially started when Jeran Cuarto, Internal Vice-President called for the assembly.

External Vice-President, Patricia Marie Ermitanio solemnly led the prayer for guidance and blessing.

Opening remarks were given by StatSoc’s dear President, Ernest Dominic Buhangin.

Alright! Then, the program proceeded with the members divided into four fantastic groups namely:
the Lobo team,

Seamen team,

Riva Jane team

and the Gee's Burger team.

The groups then first lined up to take their sumptuous dinner (mouth-watering lechong manok wih mixed vegetables, and of course, with a cold iced tea!!!)

Each team was given an hour to eat and to prepare their team presentations which should include romance, drama, comedy, action and horror presented through TV shows, commercials and music videos.

Then the time has come for the great battle among the raging teams. To energize everyone, each team was asked to do their cheers, where StatSocers' overflowing talents were showcased.

First to present their cheer was the Lobo team. Each team was able to exhibit their talents and creativity in a matter of 10 minutes. Shouts, laughters and cheers filled the whole resort.

Of course, the event wouldn’t be complete without the very fun, fun games prepared by the ExeBOD. These are:
Catch-the-Dragon Tail,

Paper Tower Building,

Longest Line,

Guessing Game;

and Balloon Hunting in the pool.

It was almost 1:00 in the morning when the games finished and everyone was now free to do anything in the resort. Surprisingly, the members spent time first with their respective committees chatting, singing and eating their delicious baons.

The EXEBOD then, after performing some data analysis, with the aid of SPSS, (joke!) called everyone’s attention and announced the winners. On fourth place, we have the Seamen team... followed by the Lobo team on the third place. Riva Jane team on the other hand emerged second best. And of course the team which yummily and cheesily took home the bacon was no other than... (drum rolls)... the Gee's Burger team who got an Araneta Center Gift Certificate worth P1000 as their prize.

It was definitely a fun night for everyone. Some took rest. zzzzzZZZZ...

But some…. Played in the pool.

...while others have gone crazy over the videoke...

Early in the morning, everyone packed their things and prepared to leave. Physically and mentally exhausted, one-by-one, members 'crawled up' inside the jeepney and went home.

Most got tired. But one truth was undeniable: Everyone had an incomparable experience and unforgettable memories with the UP Statistical Society's Small but Happy Family!!!
Don't you just love being a StatSocer?
