The 3^rd General Meeting of the UP Statistical Society was held at the Conference Hall of Balay Kalinaw last July 21 from 6 – 9 pm. It was hosted by Gemma Marie Caban and Van Supranes led the prayer. The following were discussed and happened during the third genmeet:

* Presentation of the committee AVP’s followed by the buddy bidding where applicants will choose a member that will guide them throughout the application process.

*Commendations for the Stat Acquaintance Party Dancers, Members who join the School Hop, Mr. and Ms. Stat contestants which are Statsocers, Members with no past dues and Members who are US and CS the past semester and those who help during Rummage Sale. Thank you and Congratulations! J

*Acore updates. Statsoc will be part of the ER committee.

*PSA, Kustura, Jacket Ordering, HP Movie Screening, Website and Yahoogroups and App’s Update.

*29^th Anniversary Week Theme – winner is Six Sigma: Transcending Every Possibility.

*Bonding and Costume Week inspired by the theme Committee Combat. The following are the daily activities and costume:

1. Day 1 – Its Just a Piece of Cake, Candy Goodies

2. Day 2 – Digital Scavhunt, Toys

3. Day 3 – Tambay All Day, Beach Party

4. Day 4 – Stat –en-ekeks, School Materials

*RM Espalmado then discussed the Financial statement while Debbie Castillo talked about some reminders from the council. Committee breakdown followed together with committee and org pictures.

Rummage Sale

One of the fund raising activities of the organization, members donate some of their clothes all for the purpose of helping the organization to generate some funds especially for the Anniversary Week. And who would have thought that donating simple and few clothes would give Statsoc thousands and thousands of funds.

Rummage Sale was conducted last July 18 morning near the Krus na Ligas church.

APPLICANTS ORIENTATION AND 2ND GENERAL MEETING

UP Statsoc had its Applicants Orientation and 2nd General Meeting last July 7 at the Alcantara Hall, 2nd floor of Vinzons Rooftop from 6 – 9pm.

The first part of the said activity was the applicants orientation, where Statistics majors who want to be part of the Statsoc family, were familiarized and oriented to the organization’s application process. A total of 51 sign up to apply. They also introduced themselves in a creative manner. During this part, the Greenminded, the last semester’s batch of applicants, presented a skit that reflects about the difficulties yet wonderful and fun experience of application process. Naomi Lois Mendoza was later on voted to be the batch head of this semester’s applicants. They later on called their batch as ASTATINE.

After the Applicant’s Orientation, comes the general meeting proper. PSA, HP 7 Movie Screening and Anniversary Week updates were discussed. Second batch of ordering of Statsoc jackets, Bagsakan sanctions (Little Miss and Mister Stat Shirts and tickets), recruitment and Statsoc acquaintance party were also talked about. People with no past dues were also commended. Also the much awaited winners of the Committee presentation were also awarded. Andrei Rodriguez hosted the event while Stephen Villejo led the prayer.

Semsational Semstarter

What a way to start to start the beginning of every semester for UP Statsoc than a high blast kick off activity in a private resort to have fun and unwind before being caught up by exhausting acads. Composed mainly of team building activities, game and exciting presentation highlighted by the talents and creativity of the members, Semstarter is definitely one of the most awaited activities of the organization.

Held at Palacol Resort, Dona Aurora Subdivision along Sumulong Highway in Antipolo last July 3, 9am - 6pm, this semester's semstarter did not fail to live up in its expectations.Games such as extreme egg relay, catch my egg (ang hilig lang sa eggs noh?!), hulaan - ng - paboritong - ulam game (di ko alam title. hahaha) , reflection activityand lots and lots of videokes, picture taking and swimming highlighted the event. And of course, the much awaited Committee presentation where the six committees will show their skills and talent in presenting something related to a funny yet challenging theme. The theme for the presentation was incorporating some scenes in 3 songs in different genre like singing "Sorry Sorry" by the Super Junior and incorporating it in a Fairy Tale scene.Committees satisfied their audience needs with their own unique, hilarious but great performances despite the challenge and time constraint. Winners will be announced in the 2nd General Meeting.

Members surely enjoy every little time during the SEMsational SEMstarter. And I know everybody is already looking forward for the next one.
