UPDATES - THIRD GENMEET

The 3^rd General Meeting of the UP Statistical Society was held on July 23 (Thursday) at Vinzons Rooftop. Aizel Marie Catan and Julie Baluyot hosted the meeting and Heverly Bravo led the opening prayer.

Issues like the CSR Survey, Bonding Week, Costume Week, Anniversary Week Theme, Application Process, Anniversary Shirt Design Contest, Financial Statement, etc. were discussed. Org pics and Committee pics were also taken.

UPDATES - HARRY POTTER 6 MOVIE SCREENING

The UP Statistical Society presented the movie screening of Harry Potter: The Half-Blood Prince in SM North Edsa- Cinema 4 The Block last July 17, Friday. Proceeds from this event will fund the UP Statistical Society’s 28^th Anniversary.

Even an hour before the movie started, people had already been lining up- excited to watch the movie. Practically every seat was occupied. The event started with the UP Statistical Society’s President, Paul Michael Almeda, delivering his opening remarks, followed by announcements from partner organizations.

The audience were mostly UP students and everybody seems to have enjoyed the movie.

After the movie, free Jack and Jill Potato Chips, Jack and Jill Tacquitos and Choco Lava were given away.

This event was presented in cooperation with Enchanted Kingdom, Jack and Jill Potato Chips, Jack and Jill Tacquitos and Choco Lava.

UPDATES - ACQUAINTANCE PARTY AND BUDDY BIDDING

Guests' creative introduction

fun fun fun games *strategizing* er...

To acquaint the applicants with the current members and help them choose their buddies, the UP Statistical Society held it Acquaintance Party and Buddy Bidding at the Balay Kalinaw last July 15 with the theme 'QUARANTINE'.

The event started with opening remarks from Paul Michael Almeda, President of UP StatSoc. Then, applicants introduced themselves in a very “Stat” way. A tribute performance for Michael Jackson was then performed by the Board of Directors. AVP’s of the six standing committees of the organization was shown for the apps to further know the members and inform them of the functions and responsibilities of each committee.

Fun and exciting games were played to further bond the members and applicants before serving the food. The buddy bidding proper started after the members and the applicants finished eating and while resting after the tiring yet cool games. Applicants bid for their buddies (price ranging from P20 – P100) who are expected to help them on the difficult yet very fun and exciting application process of the UP StatSoc.

UPDATES - SECOND GENMEET

After the Apps’ Orientation last July 9 (Thursday), was the 2^nd General Meeting of UP StatSoc at Vinzons Hall Activity Center. Julie Baluyot and Jonathan Bañez hosted the meeting, and Jonathan del Rosario led the opening prayer.

There was a short discussion regarding the charter change and constitutional assembly by a representative of Stand UP at the start of the meeting. After that, the winners of the semstarter were awarded. Internal Committee ranked third, Education and Research Committee ranked second and emerged as winner among six committees was the Communications Committee. Certificates and pizzas (Pizza Hut) were given as prize. Matters like upcoming events (acquaintance party and harry potter 6 screening), eco-friendly glasses, raffle tickets, solicitation letters were discussed.

UPDATES - APPLICANTS' ORIENTATION

After a weeklong recruitment period, an overwhelming number of fourteen students from different year levels attended the applicant’s orientation at the Vinzons Activity Center last July 9.

The program started with self-introduction from the applicants. During the orientation, the Personnel Committee, led by Chairperson Marvin Allan Santos, explained the different requirements of the application process such as the sigsheet, tambay hours, attendance, costume week, formal interview, and the batch project. The applicants also elected their batch officers.

The Board of Directors was also introduced. The program concluded with a very entertaining presentation from the Personnel Committee.
