Freshie Day

Date and Time: June 21, 9 am - 12nn

Place: Vinzon's Rooftop

June 21 was a memorable day for 50 Stat freshies who came to the event as they become more bonded and acquainted with each other through this fun filled and exciting event. Games such as boat is sinking, passing of rope and Stat-en-ekek, a quiz bee about anything and everything plus Stat were prepared for the freshies to establish camaraderie and friendship among themselves. Free snacks and drinks were then served all for the Freshies from the organization’s sponsors such as Zodiac, C2, Nissin and Coffee Twist. This is indeed a day for freshies brought by the UP STATSOC.

The event was hosted by Jona Genobe and Michael Van Supranes led the prayer.

UPSTATSOC's First Genmeet

The UP Statistical Society had it s First General Meeting for the first semester of Acad Year 10 – 11 last June 17, 2010 at the Benitez Hall besides Alumni Center from 6 – 9 pm.

Since this is the first for the sem and the year, important matters and plans for the sem were discussed. The program started by an opening prayer led by Heverly Bravo of the Personnel Committee followed by the warm welcome remarks from UP Statistical Society President Ma. Angelica Basada.

Angge also discussed about the org recognition and the happenings during the summer vacation as well as for the coming semester. Then the full uncut version of the Statsoc Station ID was finally unveiled to the members. Updates about the website, PSA affiliation, sponsors and Statsoc jackets were then discussed.

Also certificates and recognition were given to following members for their outstanding performance during summer:

· Reyna ng Bagsakan – Ana Naraja

· H2H Royal Couple – Michael Van Supranes (H2H King) and Gelli Sadsad (H2H Queen)

· Ms. Congeniality – Gemma Caban

· SSS (Super Sipag na StatSocer) – Michael Van Supranes

Also, StatSoc won the Bagsakan race by the Council by garnering 372 points, 64 more than the UP Variates. Because of this, we chose Blocks 01 and 02 as the blocks we would handle.

Rosemarie Espalmado, Finance Committee Chairperson, then discussed the org’s financial statements, sanctions for those who haven’t completed their required points in Bagsakan and solicitations for anniversary week.

Myka Danila discussed the reaffirmation and the attendance policies for this year. She also talk about the upcoming recruitment week of the organization. 54 members reaffirmed their membership to the organization.

Jonathan Banez spoke about the tambayan renovation, cleaning policies and the upcoming semstarter of the organization.

Lastly, new members of the organization were inducted before the committee breakdown.

The official website of the UP Statistical Society was finally introduced last March 9, 2010. It is a very cool website that satisfy the needs one is looking for an organization site and at the same time has features of Facebook like creating your own account, chatting and posting and commenting on other members account.

Tambayan Renovation and Modernization

What a better way to start the semester for an organization than to clean and renovate its home sweet home tambayan. And this is what the UP Statistical Society did last June 2-3 simulatenous with the haggard enrollment.

First a general cleaning was done for the tambayan. The walls, celiling and cabinets were clean and polish. The old linoleum was replaced by a new and better one. The lighting, windows and fan were also cleaned. The ER Cab and Comm2 Cab were also updated and organized.

After suffering from the torture given by the Summer and Bagsakan days ,the tambayan is now ready, fresh, clean and exited to welcome its family - the Statsocers.

So Statsocers, please take care of our tambayan. Tambay properly and maintain the cleanliness and posh and luxurious aura of our tambayan.
